Here are a few Summer Finds from different designers that can be found on the Children Salon website.

This is a reversible jacket from Dolce & Gabana. The sizes range from 2-4 years. The price is $339(US Dollars).

It was a ROUGH 2009, I took a break, life really slapped the shit out of me and I realize now how much I was missed when I keep seeing kids in "crappy" outfits...lol (Joking...a little). I am just going to get right back on the horse and since it is a recession, I am going to start with some cool summer finds from ASOS, one of the UK's largest online retailers. They sell over 1500 brands of designer clothes for men, women and kids and they even have their own house brand, which is not only stylish but extremely reasonable. When I am searching for clothes for my almost 2 year old son, I often get caught in what I would like to call "Pastel Hell". Many of the clothing items are baby blue, canary yellow and just plain corny!!! Well I recently found a new clothing line for children called Junior Mafia which is a London based company that was started in 2007 and tries to get away from the pastel colors with creating a line that is fresh, innovative and actually cool. The designs have titles like, the signature Junior Mafia tee, Naughty by Nature, Little Diva, My Milkshake Brings all the Babes to the Yard, Bite Me, Talk the Talk, VIP and of course the Bad Boy for Life tee (I LOVE IT). It is a NEW YEAR and I am excited about all of the possibilities but I have a lot on my plate and I've only begun eating (I like that!). I am a mother who is trying to spend quality time with my son without all the distractions from the outside world. I just recently started taking my son to gymboree classes to help him develop social skills by playing with other children.

I am a wife and I am trying to spend quality time with m husband, again without being distracted from the outside world. It's like you become a mother and forget how to be sexy because you now call your husband dad and he calls you mom (you know, so the baby gets use to it and doesn't use your first names).

I am a writer and I am trying to finish three projects that I've been working on. My first fiction book, my memoir and a poetry CD that I've been working on with my brother in-law. I am also a person who likes to read often and I go to the library and book store and get 4 or 5 books at a time and then wonder why they are all half-finished.

This year I am trying to focus more on the present moment, if I am constantly chasing tomorrow I won't live for today (I know it's so cliche) but it's the truth.

Well I am just ranting and I would like to leave you with a list of the books that I am reading. (You may not care but here they are):

To B Organic or Not to B Organic?

Many parents are indecisive about their decision to choose organic clothing for their children due to the lack of variety that is available. I came across this organic clothing line called B Nature. They offer comfortable, soft material that is 100% organic. The two moms who created the line wanted to make sure that the clothing that they produced did not contain harsh pesticides or were created under unfair labor and environmental standards.

When I was looking through their line, I didn't see a wide variety of clothing but the rompers, bodysuits and gowns that I saw seemed to look extremely comfortable. Take a look:

Many parents have difficult decisions to make when choosing safe products for their children. Natural cleaning products, lead-free toys, lead-free paint etc. It is good to see a clothing line that thinks about saving the environment and protecting children. The prices are a little under $30 but hopefully the price for organic clothing will go down and there will be more of a selection to choose from. I will continue searching for other organic lines for kids. Great job ladies!

I am still in shock two days later. The FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT is something that I thought I would never live to see. When I found out the news I was glued to the television and I began to think of a quote from W.E.B. DuBois " One ever feels this twoness--an American and a Negro, two souls, two thoughts, two unreconciled strivings, two warring ideals in one dark body, whose dogged strength alone keeps it from being torn asunder."

I have always been proud to be Black and even with all the struggles my people have been through I still wouldn't come back any other way.

Obama is a GREAT father and when I see him and Michelle I see TRUE love and it's good to see a model of a stable, loving Black family in the White House.

The Days Of Bleach In The Dish Water Are Gone!!

Ok, I have had the "should we go organic" conversation with my husband many times and I am really leaning towards it. I recently rented this book from the library Green Babies Sage Moms and the information in there is disturbing. There are so many things to consider when raising a child! Non-toxic cleaning supplies, non-toxic paint, lead tests on toys, organic foods and the list goes on and on. I jumped on the non-toxic cleaning supplies bandwagon but I am still reluctant to use non-toxic toothpaste and soap.

I also bought the BPA (Bisphenol A) free bottles for my son because it was proven to be harmful and then found that BPA is in all plastics. Well anyway here are some cool BPA free snack cups(pictured above) form Lavish and Lime that I had to post on here. They also have eco-friendly sandwich wraps for school age children that can be reused.

We must have been tough when we were kids because my mom used bleach for EVERYTHING and lead tests were unheard of but are we really ok? We think that we are and then when people get cancer we ask, "where did it come from?" Could have been that bleachy dishwater.

It is now one of the largest fashion retailers on the Internet. The webiste is called Children Salon Treasure and it is based in England. Here is the Dolce & Gabbana jacket I was referring to in the title.

When I was a little girl I had so many issues with my hair. I was not at the point where I am now when it came to embracing the texture of my hair. It took years of trying new products, hairstyles, braids, weaves, etc. before I was happy to be who I was. Out of all the hair products that I have used over my life I have never came across a product that actually works as far as helping me to keep my hair manageable. I was told about a company called Carols Daughter by a good friend of mine (Lohren) and she told me that the products are all natural. I have been using products that contained alcohol for years and I was wondering why my hair remained damaged. I would like to thank my husband who was instrumental in showing me how my beauty was so much more than external. Now I know that I have been posting a lot of cool finds and this post is a more practical one. My son was having a lot of issues with teething until I bought these tablets for him. They are all natural and you can buy them at any CVS. All you do is put the tablets (three of them) under the tongue and they dissolve and provide relief to your baby. I had been using oral gel and it would work for a little but these tablets have been a life saver for me.

I am really enjoying being a mom but this teething thing is wearing me out! My son always has his hand in his mouth and he drools on all his clothes and I can't wait until this stage is over. Actually I just had to check myself because I was just reading a book by Susan Taylor and she was talking about living in the present moment so I am re-phrasing what I just said, "I am embracing the teething and enjoying my son being a baby." There are so many times when we as mothers (or people period) rush life and we look up and our children are grown and all we did was blink. Savor each moment and when the present moment gets to tough, give the baby some teething tablets...lol.

Saks Fifth Avenue has this stroller called the Quinny stroller which has neoprene fabric (this makes it superior in resistance to dirt and oils). It is not the most cost effective if you are trying to budget($550) but it's a stroller that will last and it also has a reversible seat. It comes in orange, pink, turquoise and black.

There is a woman's line called Felix Rey that came on the scene in 2001. When I looked on their website they had some fashionable arm wear for women. Below is a diaper bag with leopard print that is fashionable and functional. The days of carrying a diaper bag and a purse are over! For all the people who thought that the GUCCI diaper bag was too expensive this one is only $350. Celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and J-Lo have been spotted wearing Felix Rey (For those of you who pick designers based on that).

There is also a stroller called the Bugaboo Cameleon which is a travel system that allows babies to either face mommy or the world. You will drop a cool $800 for it though. The material is nylon and is machine washable.

There is this new all natural drug out there moms that is said to increase sexual desire. The drug is called Zestra(it sounds freaky...lol) and it is a blend of two botanical oils that stimulate the bodies sensory nerve endings and increases sensation. Now I can't say whether or not I've tried it(I'll never put myself out there) but when the doctor was on the Rachel Ray show it did grab my attention...lol. Ghetto Girls Taking Over Baby Phat!!

I was searching on the Macy's website for sales and I ran across this Baby Phat jacket for little girls and it is BANGING!! Most people who know me know that I absolutely hate the fact that Baby Phat has been devoured by the GHETTO girls. I've been seeing too many Baby Phat tattoo's on not so good looking backs and the picture below is a prime example of why I don't wear Baby Phat.

I know Kimora would be so upset if she saw this mess! I like Kimora and she always looks fierce but the above photo doesn't represent her line well at all. Here is a picture of the jacket I was telling you about just to take your mind off of the photo. I also added another picture under it of a leggings outfit that is nice for a little girl as well.

Baby Comes Back to Life?

This is the most AMAZING thing I've read all week. An Israeli baby who was born at 23 weeks(normal pregnancy is 40 weeks) and was pronounced dead by doctors and then placed in a refrigerator to store for the burial. The parents picked the baby up for the burial and noticed that the baby was moving. The baby grasped her mothers hand and began to open her mouth. Here is the story that I copied from babycenter.com:

"Stillborn" baby lives after hours in cooler

Mon, Aug 18, 2008 (Reuters) — A stillborn Israeli baby who was pronounced dead by doctors "came back to life" on Monday after spending hours in a hospital refrigerator.

The baby, weighing only 600 grams at birth, spent at least five hours inside one of the hospital's refrigerated storage units, before her parents, who had taken her to be buried, began noticing some movement.

"We unwrapped her and felt she was moving. We didn't believe it at first. Then she began holding my mother's hand, and then we saw her open her mouth," said 26-year-old Faiza Magdoub, the baby's mother.

The baby was pronounced dead several hours earlier, after doctors at Western Galilee hospital in northern Israel were forced to abort her mother's pregnancy because of internal bleeding. Magdoub was 23 weeks into her pregnancy.

"We don't know how to explain this, so when we don't know how to explain things in the medical world we call it a miracle, and this is probably what happened," hospital deputy director Moshe Daniel said.

The baby was then taken to the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit for further treatment, but doctors were not sure how long she will live.

Motti Ravid, a professor of internal medicine, told Israel's Channel 10 that the low temperature inside the cooler had slowed down the baby's metabolism and likely helped her survive.

This story really made me feel good and assured me that God is still performing miracles. I lost a child before so I know that the mother is in SHOCK right now but thanking God all at the same time. I had to post this story. (Say a prayer for the baby she is facing a long road ahead of her)

900$ for a GUCCI Diaper Bag!!

I have been wanting this bag every since I found out I was pregnant and even when I had the money I would feel soooo guilty about actually buying it. My diaper bag now cost $60 from Babies R Us and they get dirty so fast that you have to constantly replace them. I couldn't imagine paying 900$ for a diaper bag and spilling milk or juice in it. Below are pictures of the bag in black and tan (ebony).

So if you are ever feeling "bossy" go ahead and do it and I guarantee heads will turn and people will think you are the coolest mom. Some mom's may actually hate and wonder why you would pay so much on a diaper bag and if they say something then you tell them this "Haters get your paper and leave me alone...lol (line from Octane).

I am going to get this bag, I need to hurry up though because my son is almost one. So if you see me carrying it and he's five just know that it was $900 and I will be carrying it for a while...lol

Gucci also has these adorable lace up sneakers with the signature web and some white slip-on loafers that are too fresh. The sneakers are $195 and the loafers are $245 Get your weight up and go buy them ( I am trying to get my weight up).

I really like quality items for my child and even though I get quality stuff for cheap at places like Children's' Place, Nordstroms's Rack and Macy's all the time I do like to dream big and one day I will walk into a store and get whatever I want just because I like it and the price won't be an obstacle.

New Balance X Sesame Street

Ok, I know that I just said that I absolutely hate character clothes but I had to post these Sesame Street New Balance. The reason why I am posting these is that I think they are dope and it was done by a company that is well respected in the sneaker community. My son has so many pairs of gym shoes and it's not because his dad owns a shoe store (shout out to Burn Rubber). It's a quality shoe and if you are going to do shoes with characters on them you can never go wrong with New Balance (which happens to be my husbands favorite shoe).

Binky Bling?

My son is 10 months old and he has been off a pacifier since he was around 6 months old. For some reason he still likes to use the pacifier to bite on but he never puts it in his mouth for comfort. So this next cool thing that I found would not work for him (unless he wanted Swarovski crystals in his mouth). This company called Pink Taffy Designs creates pacifiers (Binky Bling) that have genuine Swarovski crystals embellished on the front.

This is all the rage in Hollywood. I am not sure if I would buy my son a Bling Binky (it's a little suspect for boys) but I think that it's cute and different for a girl. They even have the "blinged" out pacifier hangers so your baby doesn't loose their bling...lol

They say (Pink Taffy Designs) that they use non-toxic glue to attach the Swarovski crystals but I am still not sure if it's safe for a baby to be sucking on crystals. They say they don't come off but if you give this pacifier to a teething baby I am sure they will find a way.

Not only does Pink Taffy sell cool accessories for children they also have fashionable clothes and shoes. They have these shoes for boys called TipsieToes Charlie Loafers, they are adorable.

If I had a girl, which is not going to happen for a LONG time, if at all. I would ABSOLUTELY have to have this next pick:

Two Parents One Kid All Rebels!

This shirt is a prime example of my frustration!

This is my very first entry and I am excited and nervous all at the same time. When I came up with the name of the blog it just fit so well to me. I absolutely ADORE my son but there are times when I wonder, "why did I choose to have a child now?" My life would never be the same if my son was not a part of it but Kids are a LOT of work. When the hell will I have time to update a Blog? Then I think of the show Jon and Kate Plus 8 and if Kate heard me complaining she would probably say something like, "Bitch I have EIGHT kids, BOSS the HELL up!"...lmao

My son could care less about what I put on him, he treats every outfit the same. He will spit up on his Target onesies just like he would on his Burberry shirt that was given to him by AZ (a close friend of ours). Many people may call me vain and ask why I would create a blog on kids fashion, some may even call me vain and I welcome the criticism, especially if it means that I will get more hits because people are mortified that I am giving in to the shallow world of fashion. There was a time when I wondered why people would spend $100 on a pair of True Religion jeans for their seven year old and I then asked myself, "why am I concerned it's not my child?"

There are many parents, celebrities and non-celeb's who dress their children according to their standards and people shouldn't hate on that. This blog was created out of my frustration with "BABY BLUE". Everything that I wanted to buy my son was BLUE. I understand that he's a boy and all but that doesn't mean that creativity and innovation goes out the window when picking a color.

This Blog is for all the moms who are fashionable and want their children to be fashionable as well (is that wrong?). No offense to all the people who bought my son character outfits (i.e. Bob the Builder) but just to let you know (I am whispering) "He NEVER wore it"...lol. I am constantly searching the web for the latest styles in children's fashion, baby gear, prego necessities, ways to deal with teething etc. Being a mom is enough work and searching the web all day is just not possible so I created a blog that will cover all areas.

This brings me to my first fashion pick: Rebel Ink Baby

This Minnesota based mom and dad felt my frustration about Baby Blue and created a line that appeals to the "rebel" parents. All of their items are black and white and they even have an all black pacifier! Now the concept was brilliant but some of the sayings on the clothes are corny and a bit raunchy for a baby to wear. They get an A in my book for effort and definitely for being innovative. Their motto is "Two Parents Two Babies All Rebels". I love this!
